Microneedling

Microneedling uses very short, fine needles into the skin of the face, with the aim of improving the appearance of the skin. The small irritation and inflammation caused by the needling, causes the body to produce more collagen in that area, which can improve the appearance of the skin.

What is SkinPen?

SkinPen is the first FDA-approved microneedling device for the treatment of acne scars. It can also be used for patients over the age of 22, in treating melasma, stretch marks, and surgical scars.

SkinPen is a minimally invasive treatment. Fourteen fine needles are contained within the pen-like handpiece, and these repeatedly pierce the skin, which creates thousands of microinjuries. These punctures stimulate the skin’s natural wound-healing response, which in turn boosts collagen production.

For best results, a minimum of three SkinPen treatments is advised. Treatments take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the amount of skin area to be treated. Appointments are normally spaced between three to six weeks apart.

There is very little downtime after the treatment, and it is also safe to use on all skin tones.
