Trauma Focussed CBT
Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or TF-CBT is a type of psychotherapy that can be used for children, adolescents and their families following trauma, for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
TF-CBT can help clients overcome the trauma, and identify and develop coping mechanisms for their emotions, thoughts and behaviours.
NICE (the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, which tells NHS doctors which treatments to use for diseases and conditions) recommends TF-CBT for PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) in children, young people and adults [CG123; NG116].
