Harborne, Alexandra (Alex, Dr.)
Dr Alexandra (Alex) Harborne is an HCPC registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist who works with children, young people and adults.
Having worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for 20 years – her last position as Lead for Psychological Therapies across Bedfordshire CAMHs – Alex has extensive experience of treating common mental health problems presenting in children and young people. This includes young people who are experiencing anxiety or loss in relation to COVID-19 and those who are struggling to return to school post-lockdown. Alex has also worked with parents of very young children to support their understanding of their child’s emotional development and attachment needs.
Alex provides an integrated clinical psychology services including bespoke psychological assessments and individual therapy (using CBT, ACT, systemic practice and parenting interventions) treating conditions such as anxiety, low mood, depression, behavioural dysregulation and relationships issues such as problems with friendships, self-esteem, bullying and parenting.
Alex has worked for many years with local schools, GP practices and social services and is able to provide consultation and support to professionals working in these areas.
Alex currently works in the NHS treating patients with persistent pain and chronic fatigue. She has a background in general nursing and has supported patients with a wide variety of long-term health conditions including cancer, heart attacks and stroke.
Alex has a particular interest in personal and professional development and coaching. In addition to 1:1 assessments and therapy, she is available for coaching, supervision and consultation.
