About
Alina | BPS Registered Counsellor
Alina holds an honours degree in Psychology, Therapy and Counselling. Currently, she is nearing the end of her studies for her Masters degree in Mental Health Nursing. Alina has considerable experience working as a counsellor for charitable organisation which assists families in crisis, whether it be relationship problems, mental health issues, grief and loss. She works children, adults, relationships, families.
Alina adopts a person-centred, psychological approach which takes into account the client’s individual circumstances, aspirations and needs. This is to support the client and assist them in achieving better self-awareness and understanding of themselves as this personal insight constitutes the first step in empowering the client to identify and put into practice solutions best suited to them. She strongly believes in an empathetic, compassionate, supportive and non-judgmental approach, as this helps the client to feel more at ease and better able to express themselves, as by verbalising their problems, they are better able to take control and realise their personal strengths, resources and capabilities. Such an approach is particularly effective in addressing anxiety, depression, grief and feeling of being overwhelmed by making choices and setting goals which allows an individual to feel in control in order to regain their confidence. Such a holistic approach helps ensure that the decisions and changes undertaken by the client achieve the desired outcome.
